Taking Time to Reflect
After a stressful week of midterms and having four exams in one day, I decided it was necessary to rejuvenate my spirit by appreciating by beautiful surroundings in Blacksburg, VA. I convinced my friends to wake up early and go on a sunrise hike at the very popular McAffee's Knob. The hike wasn't too difficult, especially with frequent breaks to marvel at the constellations. When we got to the top of the mountain we waited a little while for the sun to rise, and although we were all freezing on the top of the mountain, the view when the sun came up was one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced. I tried my best to capture its beauty but I didn't want to waste the view behind the lens of my camera, so I have a few pictures but not too many.

GRACE
Recently in my public speaking class I did a speech about my experience showing work at the Greater Reston Arts Center and today I realized that I never posted my work on my blog. The show was about a year ago, I don't remember the exact date, but it was an amazing experience that I'll never forget. Here are the three works that I showed:

Life Update
I've been away from this blog for a while. Honestly I kind of forgot about it until today. Since I've been away at college I haven't been creating as much as I would like, but I still want to post a few things I've done since my last post.
Summer at Smith Mountain Lake was beautiful, I have a few pictures that I just played around with that I think turned out nice.

At school I don't really have a chance to be creative. As a business major my life is full of Microsoft Excel and balance sheets instead of Adobe Photoshop, at times I feel like I need my creative outlet back so I've been thinking about switching majors. I have messed around a little bit though recently and I think the results of my playing around are actually kind of cool.
.....and as I write this post I realize that I left my SD card with the most recent images on it at home...so that's cool. Welp, I hope I get the chance to do more posts like this in the future but I need to recover my SD card first.

Influential People
Bertram
Reed Timoner. He goes by Reed, but more often than not I call him Bert.
Reed is one of the friendliest
individuals I have ever met, and I’ve never heard anybody speak negatively
about him. He loves and cares for his friends and family very much which is why
in his portrait he has the hands of his friends on his shoulders.
Next year Reed is going to William and
Mary where he’s going to study government, economics, and chemistry. His dream
job is to be a Supreme Court Justice and he idolizes Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Obviously
he’s a pretty smart dude, but he’s also very in-touch with his emotions. Reed’s
concentration was a series of self-portraits and quotes that describe himself
and his emotions.
He always has your back, he’s
encouraging, and he brings out the best in everyone. That is why Bert is
awesome.
Transcendence
tran·scend·ence
ˌtran(t)ˈsendəns/
noun
- existence or experience beyond the normal or physical level.
This image represents transcendence because the person reached a spiritual level beyond what is normal. The head raised above the body shows the emotional level that the subject is on.

Eavesdropping
This image focuses on how your eyes can tell a story during a conversation. You can tell a lot about what a person thinks on a subject just by the expression in their eyes.

Breadth
Directional lines: This image shows directional lines because the overpass carries your eye across the page and towards the skyscraper in the background.
Text: The text in this image reveals the hidden beauty and faith around big cities.
Street Scenes: This was taken during my tour of the Chelsea Galleries in NYC. This street scene captures the gloomy day and the objects seen all over the city.
Unusual Perspective: This image was taken in the Chelsea Market while I was sitting on the floor eating lunch. The perspective is unusual because it it slightly lower than the subject.
